Bonnie Meekums, PhD, SrDMP*(UK):
Born and living in the UK, lecturer at University of Leeds, leading researcher and author in DMP and on the editorial boards of several journals: “I trained in dance, theatre and writing at Dartington College of Arts in Devon, UK. My teachers included Mary Fulkerson, whose work centred on anatomical imagery designed to enhance body alignment and foster an ease of movement. Each session, after the warm-up, included a meditation on one of these images, from which movement would be allowed to emerge rather than forced or contrived.
Whilst not deriving directly from what is called Authentic Movement, this work had a lot in common with the practice I have since learned from teachers in the UK including Kedzie Penfield and Leah Bartal. Both forms centre on the dancer’s uncensored movement. For me, this is a liberating experience in which deep insights can occur through what I call the ‘movement metaphor’; essentially, dance movement emerging from this deep place within has symbolic significance and contains profound insights for the dancer. Such insights may concern individual development, and can also connect to planetary and community concerns.”

Authentic Movement is able to perceive an numinous element in one's work, it is a most wonderful ability to constantly renew oneself. I began to dance as a child, was told age 18 that I was too old to do it professionally, started training much later after my travel to London. I never looked back since and have succeeded to integrate most of my various experiences and skills into a whole.

Martina Isecke, Dipl.Psych, MA, SrDMP*(UK), Lanzarote:
Born in Germany, now living at Lanzarote, qualified as Psychologist in Berlin and as MA Dance Movement Therapist at the Laban Centre for Movement and Dance in London. Has worked as a psychologist, dance movement therapist, supervisor/ coach and dance teacher/ choreografer in Germany, UK and Spain in Clinics, educational and community settings with people from all age groups and of various cultural origins: “I became interested in dance and movement meditation early when I studied psychology at the end
seventies in Berlin. Practicing it in groups had been an experience which stayed with me as an inner image of freedom, being in-touch and at ease with oneself and the outside world, after often having to go through the motions first and touching bottom ground. When studying dance movement therapy years later in London I recognised this “transitional space” from my previous experience with movement meditation. As a practicing professional I developed a dance movement meditation model which I constantly change and further develop according to my own process as a witness of Authentic Movement. Refering to the original idea of C. G. Jung's “active imagination”, I integrate music and become a witness whilst the mover'(s)' process unfolds. It is an inner and outer dialogue which integrates a spiritual dimension and links the mover and the witness with the “collective unconscious”, connecting all living beings and leading us to our roots of nature.
Die Themen auf dem Kongress:
Tanzmeditation ind Tanzimprovisation. Die 4 Naturelemente auf Lanzarote und ihr Zusammenspiel mit dem Authentic Movement und dem Mover-Witness Prozess.
